Ehem...I was watching Sister Hood of the Traveling Pants (first movie) and I couldn't help but notice one of Tibby Rollins' (Amber Tamblyn) outfits resembled very much to Gwen's. The Blue and Green shirt were exact! Call me overly observent or just plain old obsessed, but I couldn't help question whether or not Gwen's persona was based after that of Ann Brashares' Tibby Rollins
Good eye Reina Mai!
Not sure about the attitude of Tibby -- but Todd was definitely inspired by Tibby's costume when he was designing way back when the show was still called Camp TV. You might notice that Beth looks a little bit like America Ferrera too -- Ugly Betty hadn't even come out out yet -- but trailers at the time showed a character who's attitude was very similar to what was being written for Beth. Designers are always looking for visual clues that help describe a character instantly. Todd does lots of research before he draws his characters.
